Lower Brazos-Little Brazos Pre-Discovery Webinar 1

Learn about the Discovery process for the Little Brazos-Lower Brazos watershed!

Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, along with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region 6, are leading a Risk MAP project for the Lower Brazos-Little Brazos watershed. The goal of this Risk MAP project is to provide counties and communities within the Lower Brazos-Little Brazos watershed with new or improved flood-hazard information. Through Risk MAPs, we can help communities better understand their current vulnerabilities and flood risk and make informed decisions to become stronger, safer, and more resilient to future risk.

The Risk MAP program begins with what we call Discovery. During the Discovery phase, FEMA, in collaboration with TWDB and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, will collect a range of data and information about the Lower Brazos-Little Brazos watershed. A critical element of our data collection process is to involve and learn from community stakeholders.

Before we enter the Discovery phase, we invite you to join us for a pre-Discovery webinar in October to learn more about Discovery and the Risk MAP program. These webinars will provide a preview of what to expect at the upcoming Discovery workshop, scheduled in early November. We will also hold a discussion of who should attend the workshop, the data we are looking to collect from your community, and what you hope to learn and your anticipated outcomes.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host two webinars during October. These will be similar in content so we welcome you to choose which date and time is most convenient to attend. Please share details of the pre-Discovery webinar with other relevant members of your staff who should collaborate in this effort.

We look forward to speaking with you at the pre-Discovery webinar and ultimately to working with you at the Discovery Workshop. We will send a meeting link for your webinar closer to the date.
